Specification Writing
We use our own, in-house developed Master Specifications, written for Australian projects, codes, and standards but also adaptable to international jurisdictions. Our Master Specifications are regularly maintained and updated to suit evolving industry requirements and project experience. We do not rely on third-party subscriptions for specification content. Bjorn Architecture ensures specifications are clear, contractor-ready, and aligned with your design intent. As a licensed architectural practice, we understand the realities of your projects—not just the paperwork.
We stay ahead of industry shifts, refining our master specifications to meet evolving materials and sustainability standards. We handle the wording so your design is built as intended.

Step 1
We perform a Coordination Assessment of your drawings and schedules, page by page, using our Coordination Checklist, ticking off the common (and not so common) materials, systems, finishes and contractual requirements unique to your project.
Step 2
We organise your specifications into Work Results sections, following the internationally recognised MasterFormat numbering system, and formatted following PageFormat and SectionFormat.

Step 3
We prepare a draft of your specification by editing our Master Specifications to suit your project.
Want to follow a different section numbering system? We can adjust the numbering to suit your needs.
Step 4
You review and provide your feedback to us. Then, we make adjustments for the final draft.
Need changes later? Our specifications are written so you stay in full control of your material selection.

Peer Reviews
We also offer peer reviews of your specifications, whether prepared by you or by someone else. More than just proofreading, we "think like a contractor" and review your drawings, schedules and specifications in conjunction before you issue them, and look for potential gaps in communicating your overall design intent.
